ABC-transporters and proteomics

Characterizing mycobacterial membrane proteins with focus on ABC-transporters and their substrates in mycobacteria is the main focus of this sub-project. Our long term goal is not only to engage transporters in selective drug uptake, but we are also aiming for i) be able to predict drug uptake of small molecules via membrane transporters by their chemical structure, and ii) modulate the expression of importers to increase selective drug uptake.

The mycobacterial transportome

We investigate different species of the genus Mycobacterium using a lipoproteomics approach. We are especially interested in classifying the mycobacterial transportome in the context of mycobacterial infections.
